Optimize Your Atlas Wind Turbine with TESUP Gearboxes
TESUP now offers two optional gearboxes designed for the Atlas Vertical Wind Turbine, giving you the flexibility to optimize performance for your wind conditions.
What Are TESUP Gearboxes?
A gearbox changes the relationship between input shaft RPM (from the rotor) and output shaft RPM (to the generator). By altering this ratio, you can either increase generator speed for higher output in strong winds or increase torque for earlier startup in light winds.
Gearbox Options and Technical Details
1:4 High-Wind Gearbox
Best for areas with strong, steady winds.
- Ratio: 1 input turn → 4 output turns
- Effect: Multiplies output RPM to deliver higher electrical output at moderate input speeds.
- Benefit: Efficient energy conversion and smooth, reliable operation in powerful wind regions.
4:1 Low-Wind Gearbox
Best for regions with gentle or inconsistent winds.
- Ratio: 4 input turns → 1 output turn
- Effect: Increases torque on the output shaft, helping the turbine start generating earlier and operate consistently in low-wind environments.
- Benefit: Improved reliability, smoother operation, and maximized production in lighter winds.
Why Add a Gearbox?
- Adapt performance to your local wind profile
- Boost efficiency across a wider range of wind speeds
- Protect the generator and extend system durability
| Scenario | Input RPM | Output RPM (1:4 High-Wind) |
Output RPM (4:1 Low-Wind) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strong Winds | 150 | 600 | 37.5 |
| Light Breeze | 30 | 120 | 7.5 |
