Waiheke Island is the most populated and the second-largest island in the Hauraki Gulf of New Zealand.

The surface of Waiheke is hilly. The highest point, Mount Maunganui, reaches 231 m and is located in the southern part of the island. The coast is mostly steep, with high cliffs. The north coast of Waiheke has several long sandy beaches and steep cliffs. The southern coast is heavily indented by bays, with extensive watts and swamps.
