Renewable Energy Targets are Shaping our Path towards Sustainability

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in renewable energy sources as a way to tackle climate change and ensure a sustainable future. Governments and organizations around the world have set ambitious targets for the adoption of renewable energy in order to reduce dependence on finite fossil fuels.

Renewables are the backbone of the energy transition and a viable climate solution. The deployment of renewable power is one of the main enablers of keeping the rise in average global temperatures below 1.5°C.

Recent geopolitical and climate-related developments accentuate the need for action to increase ambition for renewable energy deployment to achieve climate goals, increase energy security and improve affordability, as well as to ensure universal access to reliable and affordable energy.

Renewable energy targets typically involve a percentage of total energy production that should come from renewable sources within a certain timeframe. The EU aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20%, increase the share of renewable energy by at least 20% of consumption and achieve energy savings of 20% or more by 2022. The target was overachieved with a 22% share of gross final energy consumption from renewable sources. The new targets are to set 32% of energy consumption from renewable sources and become a climate-neutral continent by 2030.

These targets are crucial for driving investment and innovation in the renewable energy sector. They also help to provide certainty for businesses, governments, and consumers about the future direction of energy production and consumption.

Knowing that the energy sector is responsible for more than 75% of the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the share of renewable energy across the different sectors of the economy is therefore a key building block to reach the EU’s energy and climate objectives.

As a profound renewable energy company, TESUP is committed to achieving this target: to be in every household. The future of renewable energy is bright and growing. We are manufacturing goods to significantly increase the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of renewable energy systems.
