Take your wind energy production to the next level with the 1:4 High Wind Gearbox. Specially engineered for strong wind regions, this performance-boosting upgrade increases the turbine’s rotational speed, enabling significantly higher generator RPM and voltage output. Ideal for users who want to capture every bit of potential from powerful wind conditions and turn high gusts into maximum energy.
-
Ideal for: customers in high-wind locations
-
Ratio: 1 input rotation → 4 output rotations
-
Benefit: higher generator RPM → increased power output
-
Installation: compatible with standard Atlas mounting
⚠️ RECOMMENDED FOR USE ONLY IN EXTREMELY WINDY AREAS. IN NORMAL WIND CONDITIONS, IT MAY SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE TURBINE’S ROTATION SPEED OR EVEN STOP IT COMPLETELY.

1:4 High Wind Gearbox — Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers on what it does and when (and when not) to use it.
It multiplies the turbine's rotation by four — one input rotation becomes four output rotations — which raises generator RPM and voltage. In strong, consistent wind that means significantly higher power output from the same turbine.
Only if you are in an extremely windy location. In normal wind conditions the gearbox can significantly reduce your output, so it is recommended exclusively for very high-wind sites such as exposed ridges and coasts.
Yes. It is built to fit the standard Atlas mounting, so it installs without modifications on a compatible Atlas vertical wind turbine.
In strong wind the higher generator RPM and voltage translate into noticeably more output. The benefit only appears in genuinely high-wind conditions — in light or moderate wind it works against you, so site choice is essential.
The gearing is tuned to make the most of powerful gusts. In normal wind the turbine cannot spin the geared-up generator efficiently, so output drops. Fit it only where strong wind is the norm, not the exception.
