      <description><![CDATA[<p>In June 2020, a customer climbed up to his roof, pointed a camera at his newly installed Atlas 2.0 and pressed record. The wind that day? Barely 2 metres per second — the kind of breeze you would hardly feel on your face.</p><p>The turbine was turning anyway.</p><div></div><p>Video: Helimariner on YouTube — shared with our thanks.</p><p>Six years and 35,000 views later, that quiet clip is still one of our favourite pieces of proof. Not a studio shoot, not a render — a real roof, a real satellite dish in the corner of the frame, and a vertical-axis turbine doing exactly what it was designed to do: wake up in wind that leaves conventional turbines standing still.</p><p>What we love most is his honesty. In his own words: “You must have a continuous flow of strong wind in order to produce power.” He is right — a light breeze starts the blades; steady wind is what fills the batteries. That is why he runs his Atlas alongside his solar panels: sun by day, wind whenever it blows, one hybrid system that never fully sleeps.</p><p>Six years of weather later, his Atlas is still up there. <p>This week another pallet rolled out of our warehouse, shrink-wrapped and bound for the north — destination: the Scottish Highlands. Every order has an address, but some addresses make us smile a little more than others. Lochs, glens and sea cliffs: our turbines are heading to one of the most beautiful places on Earth.</p><img src="https://tesup.com/media/magefan_blog/highlands-london-2026.jpg" alt="City of London"/>
<p>The Highlands are also one of the windiest inhabited regions in Europe. On exposed sites, average wind speeds are among the highest anywhere in Britain — and the wind blows strongest through the long winter months, exactly when days are short and solar panels rest.</p><img src="https://tesup.com/media/magefan_blog/highlands-seacliffs-2026.jpg" alt="Neist Point, Isle of Skye"/>
<p>Many Highland homes stand far from the nearest substation, where a grid connection can cost more than the house itself. <h2>The problem with "you don't have enough wind"</h2>
<p>It's the sentence that stops most people buying a wind turbine. And for a typical horizontal turbine, it's often true &mdash; many need 4&ndash;5 m/s just to start spinning, so around homes, gardens and rooftops they sit still for most of the year. The Atlas is built the opposite way: as a vertical-axis turbine with aerodynamic, self-starting blades, it <strong>begins generating from as little as 2 m/s and is doing real work by 3 m/s</strong>. Every Atlas blade is laser-cut from marine-grade aluminium and <strong>reinforced with stainless-steel (inox) bars at the root</strong> &mdash; the exact spot where every gust, rotation and storm concentrates its force. That inox structure stops the blade flexing, cracking or working loose, so the same set that catches a 2 m/s breeze also rides out the roughest weather and stays rust-proof for years.</p>
